He’s the reason for the season

“Tis the Season to be Jolly”

They say home has a heartbeat. I was certain that was true way before I truly understood that was true! I was walking around Prince street with a coffee in my hand that emanated a scent accentuating the cold season that is upon us. It all seemed new as if it was all for the first time. I was admiring the holiday tourists and running some errands when a friend called and proposed lunch at Balthazar since I was so close by. We shortly met up and to our surprise, we managed to get a table in short time by, as a New Yorker might call it, some sort of holiday miracle! We ordered some wine and started chatting! The main topic was the holidays and how it has been for the past few years since she has known me.

MY FAVORITE SEASON

I have always been a fan of Christmas. I have a 10 foot tree at home that has become the center of a lasting tradition between me, my family and friends. As soon as December arrives we get filled with Holiday delight and all of us gather to light the tree! I wait all year long for this magical time and everything that it implicates. I never associated Christmas with the word Love. I simply loved things about Christmas. The way the streets are all dressed up.  The extra craziness in stores. The way people are dressed with all the extra layers I love! I get to wear my furs (yes PETA I know but I am simply just making sure they have a great home from now on! I am providing shelter for them!) I never gave much thought to the couples passing by on the street. The couples walking hand in hand with hot chocolate and holding each other to keep warm. For heaven’s sake I had my furs to keep me warm and my endless arsenal of accessories that I do most adore writing about. For as long as I remember I have written Santa Claus each year and he has always delivered. Please Santa , don’t be late! The list has changed and matured over the years and his way of delivering has changed as well! I have kept this tradition and my friend knew this and we chatted about the way the past has been and has changed.

WHY THIS CHRISTMAS IS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT

I am one of those girls that have never been alone and have had the most magical life to the outside eye and I can even admit that most of my life has been that way. Do not misunderstand, I have had my share of crazy! But nothing can compare to this year! It started off as a roller-coaster ride that I just went along with. I moved abroad for 7 months thinking it would help me run away from my problems even though I knew that was impossible. When I came back home, I felt even more agitated. I came back for the wedding of a cousin of mine. That was when I met him! I had initially seen him a year before, at my cousins birthday, but I was in too much of disarray to even notice someone that amazing! He noticed me and that was my Miracle!

HE IS MY CHRISTMAS

Here I am now having lunch with my friend and telling her about all my Christmas plans with this mythical creature that is the love of my life. He has made this Christmas, that has not even arrived yet, one of the best ones by far. All of a sudden this already amazing time of the year has become, if one could believe, even more magical. I now find magic in activities that I would have never even considered before. I started off by writing that Home has a heartbeat. Home does have a heartbeat and I will be having Christmas this year so at home that it gives new meaning to the phrase. My 10 foot Christmas tree actually managed to look even more beautiful this year. My home looks even more festive than most years. Even my skin tone works better with all my fluffy cold wear. All Christmas shopping is finished weeks prior to the holidays. This all seemed so strange until I was chatting, over lunch at Balthazar, with my friend. And realized it might have been the holiday spirit that caused all this magic feeling. But it was something magical, something more, and I knew this all along this month! I then realized that he made Christmas even more magical. This year I will feel even more…  if possible, at Home for the holidays.

Merry Christmas Everyone
